Two decades have passed since the devolution of social care policy,
with key differences emerging between the UK’s four systems, but
what impact have these differences had? This book presents for the
first time research on the perspectives of social care policy
makers on the four systems in which they operate and the ways in
which they borrow from one another. Drawing on extensive interviews
with national and local policy makers across the UK, the book
raises vital questions about the role of ‘standardisation’ and
‘differentiation’ in social care, concluding that when given
equal capacity to reform their respective systems, the regimes in
each nation may take radically different shapes. Chapter 4 and
chapter 7 are available Open Access under CC-BY-NC-ND licence.

The past decade has witnessed a wide adoption of artificial
intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) technologies. However, a
lack of oversight into their widespread implementation has resulted
in harmful outcomes that could have been avoided with proper
oversight. Before we can realize AI/ML's true benefit,
practitioners must understand how to mitigate its risks. This book
describes responsible AI, a holistic approach for improving AI/ML
technology, business processes, and cultural competencies that
builds on best practices in risk management, cybersecurity, data
privacy, and applied social science. It's an ambitious undertaking
that requires a diverse set of talents, experiences, and
perspectives. Data scientists and nontechnical oversight folks
alike need to be recruited and empowered to audit and evaluate
high-impact AI/ML systems. Author Patrick Hall created this guide
for a new generation of auditors and assessors who want to make AI
systems better for organizations, consumers, and the public at
large. Learn how to create a successful and impactful responsible
AI practice Get a guide to existing standards, laws, and
assessments for adopting AI technologies Look at how existing roles
at companies are evolving to incorporate responsible AI Examine
business best practices and recommendations for implementing
responsible AI Learn technical approaches for responsible AI at all
stages of system development
This book provides a fresh, contemporary perspective on how best to
equip enterprises with appropriate IT infrastructures and products.
Readers will learn how to strategically manage the relationship
between software and organisations using enduring principles. In
addition, this book provides a unique insight into managing and
developing personnel who work on and with software. Procurement and
marshalling of software and the skills required to sustain software
in the face of a changing world and requirements are also covered.
This book will be invaluable for Computing and Information Systems
senior undergraduate and masters students whose subject of study
requires strategic consideration of software development and
project management.

BORN OUT OF THE LIGHT OF TRUTH, THE WINDS OF CHANGE SHALL UNLEASH
THE FIRES OF DESTRUCTION UPON THE MORTAL WORLD, AND ALL SHALL BURN.
WELCOME TO THE DRAGONLANDS, a place of love, friendship, tolerance,
and peace. It is also a place of hate, betrayal, religious and
ethnical discrimination, and war. Dark forces conspire against the
mortal world Siva. A scheme, thousands of years in the making, is
set in motion by the Maenic worshipper Raul Drakhi. With a vile
device as his tool, he intends to finish that which the dragons
could not. Can the last dragon hunter put a stop to it? Or will THE
WINDS OF CHANGE unleash the fires of destruction, and see the world
burn? The Dragon Hunter Series of The Long Lost Tales of the
Dragonlands epic fantasy universe starts with The Winds of Change.
It introduces the vast Dragonlands, and is the beginning of an
extraordinary journey that will always leave you wanting more...

Blades in the Dark is the first book in the Guardian Blades series
of The Long Lost Tales of the Dragonlands franchise by Patrick
Hall. It is what Hall calls a short novel in three parts, with The
Guardians of Siva, Tah Ansenta Mas'plu, and Into the Fire (also
available as individual e-books). It is a prologue to The Winds of
Change, the first novel in the Dragon Hunter series. Included in
this pocket is a preview of said novel. Dark times are nearing. The
Maenic forces of Oblivion will once again try to conquer the mortal
world of Siva. Four knights of the Guardian Blades of Siva have
trailed a malicious sorcerer and summoner of Maenics to an ancient
and forgotten fort-one holding a dark secret. As they delve deeper
into the fort in search of the man, they uncover a plot that is so
insidious and horrendous they are shaken to their very cores. Stay
strong Darkness is settling upon the Dragonlands, and the light up
ahead is far away... Visit www.authorpatrickhall.com or
